Coronary Angioplasty, abbreviated as PTCA or PCI, sometimes also called coronary dilatation or balloon dilatation, is a catheter-based, minimally invasive method to treat narrowing of coronary arteries.
A balloon is inserted through a leg or arm artery to dilate the narrowed area. A small metal scaffold (stent) can then be attached to stabilise the opening.
Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA/PCI) is one of the cardiological services offered by the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Heart Centre in Zurich.
